In the United States, fruit pun culture has exploded in recent years, particularly in college campuses and the Internet.
In a nation where people are often confused by a variety of fruit punishments (think: “gimme that, now!”), it is a bit odd to see people posting fruit pun stories online, and especially to see one of those stories being shared in an image macro.
A photo of a banana being eaten with a piece of bread on it was captioned, “I don’t have time for this, but I just want to say I appreciate the banana for making my lunch”.
“It was pretty funny,” said an American college student who asked to be identified only by her first name, Julia.
“I thought it was a little ironic that someone would take a banana and then add a piece to it and eat it.”
The photo had been shared more than a dozen times before it was deleted, but it remains online.
A similar story popped up on Facebook and was shared more often.
The picture showed a person with a slice of banana on a piece, the bread on the other hand, and the caption read, “Now I’m eating a slice with my banana.”
“I was so happy and I was so surprised,” Julia said.
“But I guess it’s just because I’ve had a lot of fruit in the last few months.
I’ve always eaten bananas and I’m not really sure what they taste like.
Julia’s reaction surprised many who saw the story, which has been shared almost 100,000 times. “
What would I eat if I didn’t have a slice?”
Julia’s reaction surprised many who saw the story, which has been shared almost 100,000 times.
“That’s so funny,” wrote one person who commented.
“It’s just so funny how people get really creative with food puns.
People are literally making fun of each other, it’s a funny and silly thing to see.”
The same person also posted an image of the same person eating a banana on bread.
The caption read “I like the banana, so I’m going to eat a banana.
I really enjoy it.”
“It kind of feels like you’re going for the ‘I don’ factor with the banana,” said Julia.
Another user commented, “Is it the banana?
I don’t know, but there is definitely a ‘I’ factor.
It makes me think ‘why don’t we just eat something that’s more interesting?'”
“I guess I just thought it’s funny because I have so many friends who are also obsessed with bananas,” Julia added.
“So I guess I could see it as a kind of fun way of communicating with them.”
It’s not just fruit pun jokes.
The Daily Beast’s food and culture blog, “The Taste of the Day,” recently published an article about how a college student in Virginia created a banana sandwich that he served to friends who were having lunch.
“You could have a banana with some bacon, ham, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and tomato, and you’d have a really good meal,” the student, who asked not to be named, wrote.
“And it was so good that my friends asked if I could make them a sandwich of their own.”
The sandwich, which was shared nearly 100,00 times, had two bananas, a tomato, lettuce and pickles.
The student who created the sandwich has since shared the story of how he came up with the idea for it.
“One day I was driving home and I got a text message from my friend who said ‘I think we should make this banana sandwich, it would be perfect for us,'” the student wrote in the article.
“She said, ‘You should really try it.'”
“I couldn’t resist and made it and it was just perfect,” he said.
He told the Daily Beast he wanted to share his idea with others so they could try it out, but he was hesitant to make a public post on Facebook or Twitter because he wasn’t sure if it would become popular.
“The next thing I knew I was making more than 30 banana sandwiches on a weekly basis, but none of them were getting a lot more attention,” he told the website.
“All of the other banana sandwiches I made are still pretty popular and I know a lot people are still sharing them on Facebook.”
“You really have to really pay attention to your own humor,” he continued.
“Even if it’s not something you’ve thought about or thought about a lot, make sure you’re not doing something that you don’t really enjoy.”
But the student is not alone in being creative with fruit pun humor.
In fact, the fruit pun story isn’t even the most common fruit pun that’s gotten shared online.
In the last week alone, a number of people have shared stories of their fruit pun experiences, such as when a man named Mike, who goes by the name “PJ”, posted a photo of himself eating a piece on his fruit. “My wife
